Wimbledon back garden
A great garden is often decided by the details you barely notice once it’s finished. This Wimbledon project had several that needed careful thought.
The house has airbricks that keep the underfloor space ventilated. As we raised the levels for the new terrace and steps, these had to be reinstalled at the new height so the house could keep breathing.
The clients also wanted to keep their established planting, so the paving was built around the existing plants rather than clearing them away. This gives the garden a mature, settled feel from day one.
Drainpipes and a manhole cover also had to be dealt with. The paving was cut carefully around the drainpipes for a neat, tight finish, and the manhole cover was cut to size so it sits flush with the surrounding slabs. It stays accessible but almost disappears into the design.
These jobs take time and precision, but they are what separate a good landscaping job from a great one.
